The Shanling CR60 answers two of the most frequent requests from Shanling’s fans: an affordable dedicated CD transport, and a CD ripper. As a transport it plays your CDs into a DAC over optical, coaxial or Shanling’s special USB audio output, which even works with USB dongle DACs, keeping your CD collection part of a modern system of dedicated DACs and streamers. As a ripper it makes lossless copies of your CDs with a proper hi-fi-grade drive, straight to a USB drive, a computer, an Android phone or a Shanling player. Inside are a Philips drive and a Sanyo HD850 laser, in a compact full-metal case.

A dedicated digital transport

The CR60 is a simple, affordable way to keep CDs in your audio set-up. Alongside standard optical and coaxial S/PDIF outputs for traditional hi-fi connections, its USB digital output plays directly into a wide variety of USB DACs, including the popular USB dongle DACs. Playback is gapless.

Rip and preserve your CD collection

A simple switch on the back changes between transport and ripper modes. Plug in any USB drive and the CR60 creates lossless copies of your CDs automatically, in a new folder for each disc, for quick archiving. Connect it to a computer and use your choice of ripping software to tag and sort your files, or to an Android phone or Shanling player running the Eddict Player app, which adds all the tags and album art for a properly organised library and lets you choose FLAC or WAV.

Philips and Sanyo: reliable hi-fi parts

A proven CD assembly combines a Philips drive with a Sanyo HD850 laser for highly accurate, long-term reliable playback and ripping of CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, with a tray that opens at the front.

Versatile connections and power

For transport mode there are optical, coaxial and USB-A outputs; for ripping, USB-A (for a drive), USB-B and USB-C (for a computer, phone or player). Run the CR60 from any standard 5V/2A USB adapter over USB-C, or switch to a dedicated DC adapter (9V, 12V or 15V, 5.5 × 2.1mm) for the best performance.

Colour display, remote and a quick processor

A 1.14-inch colour display with Shanling’s custom menu shows the track number and playback time in transport mode, and the ripping progress in ripper mode. There are buttons on the front and a remote control, and an Ingenic X1000 processor gives it the computing power for all its features, a swift response and a start-up of just a few seconds.

Compact and sleek

Made to be as compact as possible, the CR60 sits comfortably on top of a streamer or waits quietly next to a computer for the next CD to rip. Its full-metal construction gives reliable, stable performance and reduces unwanted resonance and vibration. Choose silver or black to match your other hi-fi components.

• The CR60 has no analogue outputs: connect it to a DAC, or choose the Shanling EC Smart for a CD player with its own DAC.
• The Eddict Player app (V2.2.4 or later) works on most Android devices, but not Samsung phones or iOS; some other Android phones may not be compatible.
