The HiFiMAN Shangri-La Jr is an electrostatic headphone system: open-back electrostatic headphones and a valve amplifier made specifically for them, with hand-matched 6SN7 tubes and a discrete 24-step volume control. HiFiMAN promises an extraordinary listening experience, with an ultra-wide 7Hz–120kHz response that reveals every musical nuance and an involving, “live” soundstage.
Nanotech driver
The diaphragm is less than 0.001mm thick and coated with nano-particles, combining near-zero distortion with lightning-fast response and an extremely high frequency response.
Advanced technology
- Metal mesh stators working close to the ultra-fine diaphragm give superior openness and minimise distortion.
- Special alloy frames ensure sonic stability and reduce distortion.
- 50µm mesh grating: so fine that sound waves below a million hertz pass straight through, making it acoustically transparent.
- Nanometer-thick dust cover: protects the driver with near-perfect sound transmission.
A custom amplifier
HiFiMAN designed the amplifier specifically for the Shangri-La Jr headphones to reveal the power and emotion of music. It uses the finest hand-matched 6SN7 vacuum tubes available, working so close to the output that they give the warm, sumptuous sound the finest tube amplifiers are known for. A discrete 24-step attenuator, with a horizontal 12-LED volume indicator, sets the level without adding distortion. Inputs are balanced 3-pin XLR and single-ended RCA.

The striking industrial design complements any desk, and the headphones’ ergonomic, lightweight construction gives superior comfort for extended listening.
