MEET THE UA7
A portable DAC/amp with dual JAN6418 tubes, an ESS ES9069 DAC and up to 577mW at 32Ω from 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs.
Switch between tube and transistor outputs for two distinct listening profiles.
Supports PCM 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512, with 119dB signal-to-noise ratio.
An OP + BUF amplifier delivers up to 577mW at 32Ω, with settings on the OLED screen or app.
The Shanling UA7 is the first tube model in Shanling’s UA line of USB DAC/amps, after five years of UA designs: a portable DAC and headphone amplifier with two JAN6418 vacuum tubes, so you can switch between a warm, smooth tube sound and a precise transistor sound on one device. An ESS ES9069 DAC handles PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512, and an OP+BUF amplifier gives up to 577mW into 32Ω from the 4.4mm balanced output.

Enthusiastically received in Shanling’s portable players and CD players, compact JAN6418 tubes now make their debut in the UA line, bringing the rich, smooth and pleasing sound of tube hi-fi to an even smaller device for use anywhere. Switch at any time between the purely transistor sound and the tube-enhanced output for two distinctive presentations. A custom shock-absorbing structure protects the tubes and reduces unwanted shocks and vibrations.

Built around a well-proven ESS high-performance DAC, the UA7 focuses on accurate, highly detailed sound, tuned by Shanling engineers with over 37 years of experience for an ideal mix of high fidelity and natural sound.

The UA7 is the first UA model with the amplifier design of Shanling’s high-end players: two OPA1612 op-amps for I/V conversion, then two OPA1662 op-amps and four BUF634 buffers in the amplifier section. It gives 195mW into 32Ω from the 3.5mm output and 577mW from the 4.4mm balanced output, with two gain settings and accurate volume control, so it suits any earphones and a wide range of full-size headphones.

The UA7 keeps the sleek, slim profile of earlier UA models, adjusted to show off its tubes, in titanium grey, deep black or radiant orange. A 0.87-inch OLED screen shows settings and file details, the backlit volume wheel changes colour with the PCM sample rate and DSD level, and the new multifunction wheel gives smooth volume changes and a reliable press function. All settings are available on the device.

The UA7 Cu has a full copper-alloy chassis with a rich red copper finish and an anti-oxidation coating, smoother to the touch and much denser in the hand (97.4g). Shanling says the denser, better-shielded chassis gives a slightly warmer, richer tuning with darker backgrounds and a little more dynamics, which with the tube output makes it one of the most musical presentations among Shanling’s products.

A high-purity oxygen-free copper USB-C cable is included, and the standard USB-C socket lets you choose a longer cable or a different connector. UAC 1.0 mode gives the best gaming sound with a Nintendo Switch or other consoles and helps with older or power-limited devices. The Eddict Player app for Android and Windows 10/11 offers extra control; the iOS app does not, because of Apple’s restrictions.
