The Shanling UA6 II is a portable USB DAC and headphone amplifier for phones, tablets and computers, and the first USB dongle DAC with eight Cirrus Logic CS43131 DACs. Switch between four-DAC and eight-DAC modes on the device itself. It delivers up to 365mW into 32Ω from its 4.4mm balanced output, with a 133dB signal-to-noise ratio, and plays PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512.
An eight-core DAC
Building on the popular UA6 platform, the UA6 II adds four more CS43131 DACs, for a neutral, detailed sound with staggering measurements. Shanling says the synergy of the extra DACs brings more stability and resolution, taking a portable dongle further than before. The balanced output reaches 133dB signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range, and the 3.5mm output 128dB.
Top-end design
The aluminium chassis and tempered glass, compact size and low weight (about 30.8g), together with Shanling’s latest design ideas adopted from the flagship UA7, make it easy to carry. A tactile volume wheel gives smooth volume control and menu navigation. Choose black, orange or silver.
3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs
Use the universal 3.5mm output for everyday listening, or the 4.4mm balanced output for the best sound and up to 365mW into 32Ω (107mW from 3.5mm), enough for many full-size headphones. Low and high gain, finely stepped volume and an output impedance under 0.5Ω make it a perfect partner for highly sensitive in-ear monitors too.
Hi-res, and you can see it
An advanced USB input and true hi-fi DACs give PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512, and the screen shows the format and sample rate so you can check your hi-res files play properly.
On-device control and companion app
Thanks to the 0.95-inch OLED screen, every setting is available on the UA6 II itself and always stored as you move between phones and computers. The optional Eddict Player app (Android and Windows 10/11) gives access to the settings, helps bit-perfect output on Android and installs firmware updates.
USB-C, and a gaming mode
The UA6 II comes with a high-purity oxygen-free copper USB-C cable that works with most devices, and because it has a standard USB-C socket you can pick a longer cable, an alternative connector or an audiophile upgrade. Switch to UAC 1.0 mode for the best gaming sound with a Nintendo Switch or other consoles; it also helps with older or power-limited devices.
