The ONIX RA-125 is a full-size integrated stereo amplifier delivering 125W per channel into 8Ω, updated with a built-in DAC for modern sources. Japanese Sanken output transistors and 420W dual toroidal transformers drive the speakers, and an AKM AK4493EQ DAC handles USB at up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD256, plus optical and Bluetooth 5.0 inputs.
Powerful output
The output stage uses a pair of Japanese Sanken transistors, the 2SC3264 and 2SA1295, for clean, powerful output with plenty of drive, wide bandwidth and a natural, clear sound. The 420W dual toroidal transformers keep magnetic leakage low, with high stability and low phase change, which adds noticeably to the overall sound quality.
Every component matters
ONIX chose special large-capacity Nichicon KG capacitors, up to 10,000µF/63V, for the analogue circuit, and uses high-quality copper internal wiring with gold-plated CMC terminals and connectors, so nothing degrades the sound.
A modern DAC section
The digital section of the 2021 RA-125 is built around the AKM AK4493EQ, for a beautifully natural and smooth sound and full support for modern hi-res formats. When modernising the RA-125, ONIX also used newer, better parts such as MUSES8920 op-amps for the low-pass filter, for a balanced, coherent sound. Its dedicated XMOS XU208 USB input turns the RA-125 into a high-end USB DAC for a computer (PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD256), and a Qualcomm CSR8675 Bluetooth 5.0 chip streams from phones and tablets reliably and in high quality.
