MEET THE DX340
A flagship player with 128 discrete PWM DACs, FPGA-Master 3.0, THD+N as low as -119dB and interchangeable amp cards.
In-house 16-cascade 8E PWM DACs reach the league of flagship desktop DACs.
Dual Accusilicon femtosecond clocks and adjustable odd and even harmonics.
Interchangeable amp cards, 12V DC input, 8GB + 256GB and a 6-inch AMOLED screen.
The iBasso DX340 is iBasso’s reference digital audio player, built around its own discrete DAC rather than a DAC chip. It inherits the DX300 series’ dual system controllers and dual batteries, adds iBasso’s in-house 1-bit discrete PWM-DAC and FPGA-Master 3.0, and reaches −119dB THD+N, in the league of flagship desktop discrete DACs. A replaceable amp card with a 12V DC input gives up to 2,150mW per channel into 32Ω, in a 316 stainless steel body. It won VGP 2025 Life Style Special Prize and Gold Award honours.

FPGA-Master 3.0 brings together iBasso’s algorithm work of recent years and is what made the discrete DAC possible. As the audio system controller it requests audio data directly from the processor, synchronises and generates all the audio clocks from two Accusilicon femtosecond oscillators for a single, fully synchronised clock source, and drives the PWM-DACs. With 7.5 times the logic of FPGA-Master 2.0, it also runs iBasso’s new harmonic adjustment algorithm, which lets you adjust odd and even harmonics.

The DX340 uses 16 sets of cascaded 8E PWM-DACs: four sets for each of L+, L−, R+ and R−, or 32 PWM-DACs per phase and 128 in all, more than 6.4 times as many as other portable discrete DACs. Accurate decoding across so many high-quality elements gives −119dB THD+N, far beyond the −80dB of typical open-source PWM-DACs.

On a single battery, heavy loads can starve the supply and add distortion. The DX340 powers its digital and amplifier sections from separate batteries (4,000mAh and 2,100mAh), keeping the amp supply stable and isolating it from digital interference. A single indicator now shows charging and battery level for both, and with a USB charger that provides enough power the DX340 runs from the external supply instead of the batteries.

The supplied AMP15 card uses eight BUF634 buffers for high output and supports an external 12V supply: connect it and the amp rails rise from ±8V to ±12V, unlocking Super Gain mode with up to 2,150mW + 2,150mW into 32Ω. The slot also takes iBasso’s AMP12, AMP13 and AMP14, and the GaN-based AMP17, for different sound signatures; the AMP15 works only in the DX340.

A Snapdragon 665 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 2.1 storage keeps it smooth with plenty of room for apps, and a microSD slot adds up to 2TB. It runs Android 13 for streaming apps and iBasso’s dedicated Mango OS for pure playback.

The 1080 × 2160 AMOLED display lights each pixel individually for a contrast ratio in the millions, with rich colours and better energy efficiency than an LCD.

The 316 stainless steel shell is more stable and acoustically better than aluminium, CNC-machined with a polished and brushed finish for a luxurious feel, and the back cover can be removed by the user.

A professional USB receiver makes the DX340 a USB DAC for a computer, with PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 and ultra-low latency for films and games.
