The FiiO LINK-RCA4 is a coaxial digital cable with a 3.5mm plug at one end and an RCA plug at the other. It belongs to FiiO’s LINK series, a step up from the entry-level TRUST cables.
What it’s for
Some players, DACs and streamers carry a coaxial digital (S/PDIF) signal on their 3.5mm socket instead of an RCA socket. This cable connects that socket to a standard RCA coaxial input or output; FiiO notes that either end can be the input or the output. The cable is 5mm thick.
Good to know
- It only works with 3.5mm sockets that carry coaxial digital audio, which FiiO describes as using the fourth contact for the signal. It is not an analogue headphone cable. Check your device’s manual if you are unsure.
Silver-plated monocrystalline copper, double shielded
Every LINK cable uses 6N silver-plated monocrystalline copper. FiiO chose monocrystalline copper because it avoids the grain boundaries found in ordinary copper, and adds silver plating to improve conductivity. Two layers of shielding, graphene-coated aluminium foil and tinned copper braid, keep out electromagnetic interference.
Built to last
The plugs have CNC-machined, anodised aluminium housings with FiiO’s curved “Arc” grip, so they are easy to plug in and pull out. A flexible, flame-retardant PVC sheath sits under a glossy polyester braid in green, gold and silver, and each core is reinforced with 500D nylon filament. FiiO tests LINK cables with 5,000 plug-in cycles, salt-spray corrosion tests and load-bearing tests.
LINK or TRUST?
FiiO’s TRUST cables are the budget option, with silver-plated oxygen-free copper and plastic plugs. LINK cables move up to monocrystalline copper, aluminium plugs and a flame-retardant sheath. For RCA sockets at both ends, choose the LINK-RCA2.
