The FiiO KB3 Wireless is a compact 75% mechanical keyboard for work and play, from the hi-fi brand’s KB3 range. It connects to up to five devices over 2.4GHz, Bluetooth or USB-C, uses hot-swappable Gateron G Pro 3.0 yellow switches in a cushioned gasket mount, and adds RGB lighting and a stepless volume knob to a solid aluminium-magnesium alloy case. A 4,000mAh battery lasts about 500 hours with the lighting off. Unlike the KB3 HiFi, this edition has no built-in DAC or headphone outputs.
Gasket mount for a soft, quiet feel
Under the aluminium-magnesium top case, the switches sit on an iron plate held by silicone gaskets, with sound-absorbing foam, IXPE switch foam and a silicone dampener beneath. The layers absorb shock and cut noise, for a softer, more comfortable feel and a cleaner sound than a typical tray-mount board.
Hot-swappable Gateron switches
All 81 keys use Gateron G Pro 3.0 yellow switches, which FiiO picked as ideal for both productivity and gaming. They are hot-swappable, so you can try other switches or keycaps without soldering, and the keyboard supports VIA firmware for remapping.
Five devices, three ways to connect
A switch selects USB, Bluetooth or 2.4GHz. The keyboard remembers three Bluetooth devices (Fn+Q, W and E: a short press switches, a long press pairs), one 2.4GHz receiver and one USB connection, and works with both Windows and macOS. Four lights on the right show Caps Lock, Bluetooth, 2.4GHz and battery status.
A long-lasting battery
The 4,000mAh battery gives about 18 hours with the RGB lighting always on, around 500 hours with it off and more than 2,000 hours on standby. After 3 minutes without use, the lights switch off but the wireless link stays connected; after 10 minutes it disconnects to save power, and any key wakes it and reconnects. Charge over USB-C: the battery light is red while charging and green when full, and in use it shows green (70–100%), orange (50–70%), yellow (30–50%) or red (below 30%), flashing red when it needs charging.
Media keys and a volume knob
Turn the stepless knob to change the volume and click it to mute. With Fn, F9 to F12 open your player and control previous, play/pause and next; F1–F4 adjust the RGB brightness and effects, and further Fn shortcuts set the lighting speed, colour and saturation.
