FiiO Jade Audio JD1 In Ear Earphone - Type C or 3.5mm version

The FiiO Jade Audio JD1 are affordable in-ear earphones that make an ideal first step into hi-fi. A 10mm LCP dynamic driver with FiiO’s asymmetrical magnet design, a die-cast zinc alloy faceplate, an aluminium nozzle and a detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable with microphone give a detailed, low-distortion yet smooth sound at just 7g per earpiece. Choose the 3.5mm version, or the Type-C JD1 TC with its own DSP decoder and five sound presets for phones and laptops without a headphone socket. Both are Hi-Res Audio certified, and the JD1 won a VGP 2025 Summer Life Style award.

A great starting point

10mm LCP dynamic driver

After evaluating many options, the team chose a 10mm liquid crystal polymer (LCP) driver. Light and very rigid, it gives rich, powerful bass with real impact on drums, and careful tuning keeps it detailed and low in distortion, like proper hi-fi earphones, for a clear, natural sound.

FiiO’s IEM engineers explain the tuning: the LCP dome lets the 8kHz–20kHz range outperform rivals, so you can feel the vibration of strings and hear opponents early in games; the 20Hz–300Hz bass has more weight than its peers, “like a theatre with a subwoofer”; the 2kHz–5kHz region is adjusted according to HRTF for a grand soundstage in games and films; and 6.5kHz is tuned conservatively to balance the mids and treble and keep sibilance and harshness in check.

Asymmetrical magnets and pressure relief

FiiO’s asymmetrical internal and external magnetic circuit, also used in the FT3 headphones and the “Little Conch” earphones, raises the magnetic field density around the voice coil compared with a single internal or external magnet, for a more powerful, robust sound and better transients. Front-rear cavity balanced pressure relief lets the driver move more freely for better bass while reducing pressure on your eardrum.

Built to a higher standard

Despite its entry-level price, the JD1 is built like its FiiO siblings. The faceplate is liquid die-cast zinc alloy, hand-polished for a luxurious feel. The aluminium alloy nozzle is durable and carries every vibration to your ear, and the triangular ergonomic shell sits comfortably and securely. At only 7g per earpiece, it almost disappears in your ear. Choose obsidian black (a mirror-finish black faceplate on a black shell) or transparent (a matte silver faceplate on a clear shell).

JD1 TC: a DAC in the plug

The Type-C version has an independent DSP audio chip in the plug, decoding up to 96kHz/24-bit, and works with iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. It has five built-in sound presets: default, bass extension, treble, vocal and Harman reference. Press + and − together to switch between them.

A cable you can upgrade

The 0.78mm 2-pin cable detaches, so you can upgrade later, and its curved connectors sit comfortably around your ears. The included cable has a high-definition microphone: the middle button answers and ends calls and plays or pauses music, and the other two change the volume. On the JD1 TC, press the middle button twice to skip forward, three times to go back, and hold it for your voice assistant.
