HiFiMAN Svanar Wireless In Ear Monitor

The HiFiMAN Svanar Wireless (“Ultimate Personal Audio”) is a true wireless in-ear monitor with a full hi-fi signal path in each earbud: HiFiMAN’s own HYMALAYA R2R DAC and a headphone amplifier drive a Topology diaphragm driver, fed by LDAC Bluetooth for up to 24-bit/96kHz. It adds up to 35dB of active noise cancelling, environmental noise cancellation for calls, IPX5 water resistance and up to 28 hours of listening with the case.

Hymalaya R2R DAC and amplifier in every earbud

Most true wireless earphones use the DAC built into their Bluetooth chip. The Svanar Wireless sends the signal from the Bluetooth module to HiFiMAN’s HYMALAYA R2R custom ladder DAC, the same DAC family as HiFiMAN’s desktop EF400, then through a buffer, a low-pass filter and dual amplifiers for each channel. The tiny module gives 45mW into 32Ω (54mW into 16Ω) undistorted, with distortion of 0.005% at -2dB, and up to 63mW into 32Ω at 1%.

Topology diaphragm

The Topology diaphragm has a special nano-particle coating on its surface, for a more natural, detailed sound than true wireless earphones usually achieve. The idea came from Dr Fang Bian’s PhD thesis: different nano materials have different structures and properties, so carefully controlling the diaphragm’s surface gives acoustic results previously unobtainable.

LDAC high-definition Bluetooth

LDAC carries full-range, high-fidelity audio from Android phones; iPhones connect with AAC or SBC. Bluetooth 5.2 gives a stable connection up to 15 metres away.

Deep noise cancelling

Microphones accurately identify noise and generate a reverse signal that reduces it by up to 35dB. Environmental noise cancellation (ENC) clears up calls, and a transparency mode lets the world back in.

A case that fits larger tips

Most true wireless earphones can’t charge with larger silicone tips fitted. HiFiMAN made the Svanar Wireless case roomier, so you don’t need to swap tips to charge. Eight pairs of tips are included, and the case charges over USB-C or wirelessly.

Battery

Listen for up to 4 hours in hi-fi mode, 6 hours with noise cancelling or 7 hours in transparency mode; the case recharges the earbuds three times, for up to 28 hours in total.

Touch controls

• Play or pause: touch either earbud.
• Previous track: double-tap either earbud. Next track: triple-tap either earbud.
• Calls: double-tap to answer or end; hold either earbud for 3 seconds to reject.
• Modes: hold the left earbud for 3 seconds to switch between noise cancelling, transparency and hi-fi.
• Voice assistant: hold the right earbud for 3 seconds (if your device supports it).
