The iBasso DX260 MK2 is a digital audio player with eight Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs working as a matrix, controlled by iBasso’s FPGA-Master 2.0. iBasso’s Audio Precision APx555 measurements show a THD+N of −123dB, 133dB signal-to-noise and 134dB dynamic range. It runs Android 13 for streaming apps and Mango OS for pure playback, and delivers up to 1,015mW into 32Ω from its 4.4mm balanced output.
Eight DACs and FPGA-Master 2.0
The FPGA-Master 2.0 takes audio data from the processor and generates every audio clock from two NDK femtosecond oscillators. It can drive the eight DACs in synchronous parallel mode, or delay groups of four DACs by single clock cycles so they act as a hardware FIR filter (2× or 4× modes), which averages out differences between the chips for lower distortion and more detail.
Two systems
Android 13 runs on a Snapdragon 665 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS storage, and bypasses Android’s sample rate conversion for any app. Mango OS is a separate Linux-based system with no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth running, for lower interference. In USB DAC mode a dedicated USB receiver gives low latency, with ASIO and WASAPI on Windows.
Battery and build
The 4,400mAh battery lasts about 14 hours and charges in about 2.5 hours. On a strong enough charger, the player runs from the charger and bypasses the battery once it is full, which keeps heat down. The back cover comes off for easy battery replacement, and guards protect the volume knob.
