FiiO FT1 32Ω Large Dynamic Driver Headphones with Solid Wood Cups - BLACK (Box opened)

The FiiO FT1 is FiiO’s first closed-back over-ear headphone, built around solid wood ear cups and a large second-generation 60mm dynamic driver with a nanowood-fibre diaphragm made from 90-year-old Northern European spruce. FiiO tuned it for sweet, rich, dense vocals and authoritative bass, it blocks up to 26dB of outside noise, and at 32Ω and 113dB/Vrms it is easy to drive from a phone dongle or portable player. Two cables (3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced) and a storage bag are included, and it won a VGP 2025 Pure Audio Gold Award and a VGP 2025 Summer award in Japan.

Natural solid wood cups

Choose cups of North American black walnut or beech. Walnut, from high-latitude regions of North America, has an elegant grain and warm, delicate texture, and is used in yachts, luxury cars and custom furniture; beech is dense, hard and resistant to corrosion, a favourite for boats, vehicles, furniture and instruments. The solid wood effectively reduces resonance inside the cup and minimises standing waves, and because it is natural, the grain of every pair is unique.

A large 60mm dynamic driver

FiiO developed a second-generation 60mm dynamic driver specifically for the FT1. Its larger-than-average size converts energy more efficiently and lowers the low-frequency resonance point, for deeper bass, more dynamics and an authoritative overall sound.

A nanowood-fibre diaphragm

The diaphragm is made mainly from wood fibres of 90-year-old Northern European spruce, a top material for musical instruments, known for its clear sound and natural tone. The spruce is soaked, cooked and beaten into pulp, a precise proportion of carbon fibre is added for toughness, and it is baked and moulded again, over ten steps in all, into a cone about 0.1mm thick weighing just 0.14g. A light PU suspension with high internal damping improves compliance and low-frequency elasticity. Inspired by paper-cone speakers, still favoured in high-end audio for their warmth and emotion, the diaphragm gives clean, precise sound with good extension and transient response, and sweet, rich, high-density vocals.

A W-shaped suspension and Japanese CCAW voice coil

A new W-shaped suspension gasket increases the effective vibrating area by 25.8% compared with typical diaphragms of this size, storing more energy. The hard dome and compliant surround let the large 25mm voice coil drive the stiffer dome directly, minimising losses between materials and reducing break-up distortion for a refined sound. The coil is wound from ultra-fine Japanese copper-clad aluminium wire, each core about 0.035mm across, on a light Kapton former, which cuts moving mass for faster response and less reverberation.

Closed back: up to 26dB quieter

As FiiO’s first closed-back over-ear headphones, the FT1 has a series of sound-insulating parts that cut outside noise, voices and environmental sounds, by up to 26dB, so it suits commuting, editing recordings, the office and gaming as well as home listening. A U-shaped damping tube developed for the FT1 adds passive noise isolation and sends sound energy through a set length and angle, increasing air viscosity and lowering the cavity resonance for better bass extension: you feel the air move and the focused power of drums and strings.

A conical baffle for clean treble

A conical baffle positions the whole driver parallel to your ear, breaking up sound convergence and avoiding the standing waves a flat baffle creates, so high frequencies arrive with minimal loss.

Easy to drive, wide response

With a 32Ω impedance and a sensitivity of 113dB/Vrms (98dB/mW) at 1kHz, the FT1 needs little power, so you can enjoy it from almost any source. Its 10Hz–40kHz frequency response gives a monitor-like listen in which every detail comes through cleanly. It is certified Hi-Res Audio by the Japan Audio Society and the CEA.

A comfortable, adjustable fit

The 3-axis adaptive headband from FiiO’s FT series rotates freely (35° horizontally and 45° in pitch) for a snug, comfortable fit with little sound leakage, and slides through 38mm. Ball-bearing steel rails with a stamped 0–11 scale (12 positions) give a precise, durable adjustment over a wider range than similar headphones, and the headband pad is soft lychee-grain leather with suede. The breathable earpads have a high-density mesh fabric face that carries heat away, with protein leather sides.

Two cables and a premium bag

The FT1 uses common dual 3.5mm TRS connectors, so cables are easy to swap or upgrade. Two are included, one with a 3.5mm plug and one with a 4.4mm balanced plug, both 1.5m long, 24AWG, made from 392 strands of silver-plated oxygen-free copper for a transparent yet robust sound. A storage bag made with materials and techniques used by top French brands, rare at this price, keeps the FT1 protected.
