The IKKO ITM05 “Music Patch” is a thin, square DAC and headphone amplifier that sits on the back of your phone. IKKO set out to give phones, whose built-in DACs are often limited, real hi-fi sound at an affordable price, and says the ITM05 pioneered the use of two Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs in a portable amp, for PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD256 with just 0.0008% distortion and a 122dB signal-to-noise ratio, from a 3.5mm output and a 2.5mm balanced output. It needs no battery, weighs 23g, and comes in USB-C and Lightning versions.
Made to live on your phone
The ITM05 is only as thick as an iPhone MagSafe accessory. Its connector has an integrated telescopic design, and an arc-shaped groove underneath helps it sit close against the back of the phone, which keeps the plug from working loose. It works even with a phone case on, and IKKO designed it so you can keep listening while your phone charges. The body is high-quality plastic with a soft PU-leather back and curved edges that make it thinner at the sides, for a soft, comfortable feel; adhesive pads hold it in place.
Dual CS43198 DACs
Two CS43198 DACs handle the decoding, an approach IKKO says has clear advantages over ordinary headphone adapters and Bluetooth, with a battery-free, ultra-low-power design that draws its power from the phone or computer. It adapts to headphones from 16Ω to 600Ω and has a delicate, natural tuning.
Two outputs
Unlike most dongle DACs, the ITM05 has two headphone sockets: a 3.5mm output at 2.1V and a professional 2.5mm balanced output at 2.0V. Use one at a time: IKKO asks you not to connect headphones to both at once.

It connects in a second, with no drivers to install, and works with Android, iOS and computers.
