iBasso DC07 Pro Balanced Dongle DAC and Amp

The iBasso DC07 Pro is a premium USB-C dongle DAC that brings iBasso’s 18 years of portable audio and design ideas from its players into a dongle. Four Cirrus Logic CS43131 DACs, controlled by iBasso’s own FPGA, reach a THD+N of just 0.000098% (−120.2dB), and the 4.4mm output delivers 430mW per channel into 32Ω while drawing as little as 80mA from your phone. A 0.96-inch OLED screen and a control knob put every setting on the device.

A masterpiece dongle

iBasso’s six goals for an ideal dongle: premium sound, top measurements (THD+N with one more zero than other dongles), low power consumption, high output power, convenient operation, and high-quality parts, including a Pentaconn 4.4mm socket, a femtosecond oscillator, the FPGA and a TG170 immersion-gold circuit board with resin plugging.

FPGA: the system controller

iBasso’s in-house FPGA integrates its audio algorithms and runs the whole dongle, regenerating the signal and synchronising the clocks. With a KDS femtosecond oscillator it generates ultra-low-jitter clocks for the DACs and the USB receiver, reducing jitter from the USB bus.

Four flagship CS43131 DACs

Four CS43131 chips combined with the FPGA give a comprehensive leap in measurements: an Audio Precision-measured THD+N of −120.2dB, 134dB dynamic range and a noise floor of 0.85µV, with PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512.

Powerful but efficient

A synchronous DC-DC converter with up to 94% efficiency means the DC07 Pro draws as little as 80mA, 40% less than the DC04 Pro’s 136mA, while giving 82% more output. A dedicated ultra-low-noise LDO with 100dB of power-supply rejection keeps the DACs’ supply pure.

OLED screen and ALPS knob

Rotate and press the ALPS multifunction knob to set the volume, gain, digital filters and more, with the 0.96-inch OLED showing the format, bit rate and sample rate. Android users can also control every setting with iBasso’s UAC app.

A DAP-like design

The CNC-machined aluminium shell has the OLED on top, a tempered-glass back and the knob on the side, with the style and precision of a high-end player.

Made to work with iPhone

iPhones limit the current available to accessories and can shut down a power-hungry dongle. At about 80mA the DC07 Pro stays well within that, a Lightning cable is included, and because every setting is on the device, no app is needed on iOS.

32-bit/768kHz S/PDIF output

The DC07 Pro can also output S/PDIF at up to 32-bit/768kHz, turning a smartphone into a high-quality digital transport for an external DAC.
