Read the full description
The HiFiMAN HE400se is an open-back planar magnetic headphone with HiFiMAN’s Stealth Magnets: a classic favourite with a modern twist, from the HE400 series that has been an audio-industry favourite for over ten years. Its planar driver gives the low distortion and detail planars are known for, and its high sensitivity lets it run from everyday sources such as phones and tablets.
What is a planar headphone?
Dynamic headphones use a voice coil that drives only a limited area of the diaphragm, so much of it is not driven to its full capacity. Planar headphones have a conductive layer covering nearly the entire diaphragm, so the whole film moves evenly, for significantly lower distortion than conventional dynamic headphones.
Acoustically invisible Stealth Magnets
Conventional magnets disturb the sound waves passing through them. The special shape of HiFiMAN’s Stealth Magnets lets the waves pass without generating interference: the design is acoustically transparent, dramatically reducing the wave-diffraction turbulence that degrades the sound, for pure, accurate, full-range output.
Easy to drive
HiFiMAN designed the HE400se’s high sensitivity to match low-voltage sources, including smartphones and tablets, for a rich, pure sound without needing an external amplifier.
Comfortable for hours
A newly designed adjustable, lightweight headband keeps the HE400se cool and comfortable for hours, even in very warm weather, and bevelled earpads help isolation and comfort. A newly designed casing protects the drivers for better durability.
Durable connections
A dual-sided high-performance 3.5mm cable comes with a 6.35mm adapter, for compatibility with a wide range of devices.

Good to know
- As an open-back headphone it lets sound in and out, so it suits listening at home rather than on the move.
- For a phone without a headphone socket, a dongle DAC such as the FiiO KA13 connects it.
- In the box: HE400se, dual-sided 3.5mm cable and 6.35mm adapter.
