FiiO Snowsky Wind Over Ear Headphones

The FiiO SNOWSKY WIND are lightweight retro on-ear headphones that pay tribute to the classic portable headphones of the cassette era, made with modern parts for better sound. A 40mm dynamic driver with a Japanese PET compound diaphragm and an N52 magnet sits in a semi-open earcup on a retractable stainless steel headband, and at about 50g they barely feel there. A three-button remote with microphone and two pairs of ear cushions, each with its own sound, complete the set.

Looking to the past, with a modern twist

As FiiO puts it, technology moves on, but we still want to experience what made the past so charming. The WIND brings back the look of classic mini headphones, with a slim steel band and small round earcups, and makes it with today’s techniques for a more satisfying sound. It’s a chic accessory as much as a pair of headphones, in black, silver or pink, and it won a VGP 2025 Summer award in Japan’s Life Style category.

Modern parts, carefully tuned

Each earcup holds a 40mm dynamic driver with a Japanese PET compound diaphragm, a strong N52 magnet and a Japanese CCAW (copper-clad aluminium wire) voice coil. FiiO designed custom ultra-thin housings for the drivers and spent a long time tuning them, for rich bass and lush vocals. With a 32Ω impedance and 101dB/mW sensitivity, they’re easy to drive from a phone, dongle or portable player.

Semi-open: natural sound, aware of the world

The semi-open design gives a more natural, transparent sound than closed headphones. FiiO says it still keeps good sound isolation, so you won’t disturb the people around you, while letting you stay aware of your surroundings outdoors for added safety.

Two pairs of ear cushions, two sounds

Two pairs of replaceable ear cushions come in the box, and each gives a different sound: the black cushions bring more powerful, robust bass, while the orange ones give a more relaxed presentation. Being able to swap them also means the WIND keeps going for longer.

Light, comfortable and easy to carry

At about 50g, the WIND almost feels as if it isn’t there. The retractable stainless steel headband adjusts the fit, and the swivelling earcups sit snugly against your ears for comfort and a better soundstage. The fixed cable has a three-button remote with a microphone for calls, using the CTIA standard found on most phones.

Good to know

• The WIND is wired, with a 3.5mm plug. For a phone without a headphone socket, use a USB-C or Lightning adapter, or a dongle DAC such as the FiiO KA11.
• Made for retro listening: pair it with the FiiO CP13 cassette player or the SNOWSKY DISC.
• In the box: WIND headphones with black cushions fitted, a spare pair of orange cushions, quick start guide and warranty card.
