FiiO Snowsky OAK NANO Single Dynamic Driver Earphones

The SNOWSKY OAK NANO, from FiiO, is a single dynamic driver in-ear monitor with a 13.8mm beryllium-alloy dome in pure titanium shells. The first of the OAK series, inspired by classic wristwatches, it is SNOWSKY’s first flagship and the spiritual successor to the FiiO FD7, the result of two years of development in pursuit of watch-grade craftsmanship and an exceptional sound. Red and black tuning nozzles, a cryo-treated silver-plated cable with 3.5mm, 4.4mm and USB-C DSP plugs, 22 pairs of eartips and Hi-Res certification complete it.

A larger, thinner beryllium-alloy dome

Beryllium is ultra-light, exceptionally rigid and, FiiO says, superior to aluminium or titanium for a driver: its low damping and high sound velocity add no unwanted colour, giving the clear, open sound the FD7 was known for. With pure beryllium increasingly scarce, the OAK NANO uses a special beryllium alloy with the same performance and character, in a dome that is larger yet thinner than before. That improves treble extension, transient response and distortion control, so fine details, from the crisp strike of percussion to the nuances of a voice, come through precisely.

A high-flux magnetic circuit

The driver grows to 13.8mm with a magnet 69.5% larger than the FD7’s. FiiO’s lab measures a magnetic flux density of nearly 1.5T in the voice-coil gap and distortion as low as 0.1% even at 114dB SPL, giving the driving force for large excursions with little distortion and a fast transient response. A W-shaped diaphragm with an independent surround increases the moving area for a fuller, more dynamic sound, and a pure-copper voice coil balances the beryllium’s clarity with a smoother, more natural tone.

Precise acoustics, front and back

In the front chamber, the Acoustic Prism proven in the FD7 corrects the phase of sound waves on their way to your ear, resolving time lag and standing-wave distortion for finer control of every frequency. In the rear chamber, a high-density damping mesh in the CNC-machined vents regulates airflow and suppresses resonance, for deeper, more authoritative bass and fuller vocals with more body between 100Hz and 4kHz.

Two sound signatures

Swappable tuning nozzles with different densities of damping give two sound profiles. The red nozzles bring deep, authoritative bass with a powerful sense of scale, for pop, rock and folk; the black nozzles give crystalline transparency and bright, detailed treble, for classical and instrumental music.

Pure titanium, made like a watch

Pure titanium, prized for its density and hardness, keeps the shells pristine for years. CNC machining, mirror polishing and PVD coating bring out the OAK NANO’s colour, lustre and sharp contours.

A cryo-treated 6N copper cable with three plugs

The cable uses 6N OCC monocrystalline copper (99.99998% pure), free of grain boundaries for very low resistance, silver-plated and cryogenically treated in liquid nitrogen at −192°C for over 100 hours to release internal stresses for smooth, natural signal transmission. Standard 0.78mm 2-pin connectors suit a wide range of aftermarket cables. Swap between 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced and USB-C plugs: the USB-C plug houses a BES3001-SP DSP decoding chip with balanced output, playing PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz, with an 8-band PEQ in the FiiO Control app or on FiiO’s web interface to adjust, export and save your own curves.

Generous accessories

Twenty-two pairs of eartips in three styles, including FiiO HS18 and HS20 and SpinFit CP360, let you fine-tune fit and sound, and a newly designed carrying case keeps everything together. The OAK NANO is certified Hi-Res Audio by the Japan Audio Society and the Consumer Electronics Association.
