FiiO SNOWSKY BEATBOX Portable CD Player and Speaker

The FiiO SNOWSKY BEATBOX brings the ceremony of physical music back into everyday life: a CD player, stereo speaker system, LDAC Bluetooth receiver, FM radio and USB music player in one compact, wall-friendly box. Three speakers with a floating bass chamber fill a room, a removable battery lets you take it anywhere, it rips CDs straight to USB, and swappable front panels turn it into a canvas for your favourite album art.

Powerful stereo sound with deep bass

After dozens of structural prototypes and custom moulding, FiiO arrived at a layout that, as it puts it, delivers a sonic punch you can feel. Two mid-high speakers sit symmetrically left and right for a wider stereo image, while a separate woofer works in its own “floating” bass chamber with a bass port for deeper, more impactful bass. A hardware crossover divides the frequencies for powerful bass, rich vocals and clear treble. Seven presets (Pop, Retro, Jazz, Rock, Dance, Hip-Hop and Classical) suit different albums.

Careful CD playback

A custom-designed CD mechanism gives stable, precise, anti-skip playback. It uses the same self-sprung steel-ball clamp as FiiO’s DM15, so discs go on and come off smoothly and are protected from scratches. Listen through the built-in speakers or plug headphones into the 3.5mm output. As with any compact CD mechanism, FiiO can’t guarantee every disc will play; some high-capacity discs, disc materials and recording methods can affect playback.

Make it your own

The front panel is replaceable, so the BEATBOX can show off an album cover, an illustration, graffiti or your own design. FiiO worked with guest designers from the SSPAI creative community on a collection of faceplates (sold separately). The magnetic back means it can stick to a fridge or a metal pegboard, and it looks at home in a bedroom, living room, home office, café or studio.

A battery you can recharge or swap

A removable 3,350mAh 18650 battery with its own protection board lets the BEATBOX play away from the mains. Charge it over USB-C in about 2 hours, or swap in a spare to keep going. Playing time depends on the source and output:

The battery is a custom protected cell of non-standard length, so replacements should be bought through FiiO’s customer support.

Rip CDs straight to USB

Copy favourite tracks from CD to lossless WAV files on a USB drive: an easy way to build a digital archive, make music for the car or share tracks. Ripping works with audio CDs (CD-DA) and FAT32-formatted USB drives; FiiO recommends a USB-C drive of 32GB or less for reliable operation.

More than a CD player

• LDAC Bluetooth receiver: stream from a phone, tablet or player over SBC or hi-res LDAC.
• FM radio: news, music and radio programmes from the built-in tuner.
• USB playback: MP3, WMA, and WAV and FLAC up to 48kHz from a USB drive.
• AUX input: use it as a speaker for a computer, portable player or other source.
• Remote control: the infrared remote handles playback from across the room, and there’s a sleep timer for bedtime listening.

Good to know

• The headphone output is low-powered (about 1mW into 32Ω), so it suits sensitive earphones; the speakers are the main event.
• Prefer a portable CD player for headphones? See FiiO’s DM13 or DM15 R2R.
• In the box: BEATBOX, USB-A to USB-C cable, infrared remote, four foot pads, quick start guide and warranty card. Black or white.
