The FiiO LINK-TR1 is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm analogue audio cable, often called an aux cable, in 20cm, 80cm or 150cm lengths. It belongs to FiiO’s LINK series, a step up from the entry-level TRUST cables.

What it’s for

FiiO designed it for analogue audio between any two 3.5mm sockets, for example from a music player’s line out to a portable headphone amplifier, or from a phone to powered speakers. The 20cm length suits a player and amp stacked together. The cable is 5mm thick.

Silver-plated monocrystalline copper, double shielded

Every LINK cable uses 6N silver-plated monocrystalline copper. FiiO chose monocrystalline copper because it avoids the grain boundaries found in ordinary copper, and adds silver plating to improve conductivity. Two layers of shielding, graphene-coated aluminium foil and tinned copper braid, keep out electromagnetic interference.

Built to last

The plugs have CNC-machined, anodised aluminium housings with FiiO’s curved “Arc” grip, so they are easy to plug in and pull out. A flexible, flame-retardant PVC sheath sits under a glossy polyester braid in green, gold and silver, and each core is reinforced with 500D nylon filament. FiiO tests LINK cables with 5,000 plug-in cycles, salt-spray corrosion tests and load-bearing tests.

LINK or TRUST?

FiiO’s TRUST cables are the budget option, with silver-plated oxygen-free copper and plastic plugs. LINK cables move up to monocrystalline copper, aluminium plugs and a flame-retardant sheath. The TRUST version of this cable is the TRUST LL-3.5A.
