MEET THE FF1
Lightweight earbuds with a 14.2mm beryllium-plated driver, extended bass pipes, a detachable cable and an in-line mic.
A PU and beryllium-plated diaphragm, uncommon in its class.
Hidden acoustic pipes give more dynamic, textured bass.
Just 3.2g with a flat design, a detachable 2-pin cable and mic.
The FiiO FF1 is the newest and most affordable member of FiiO’s FF family of open earbuds, keeping the design and qualities of the well-loved FF3 and FF5 in a lighter, simpler package. A large 14.2mm driver with a PU and beryllium-plated diaphragm, hidden bass pipes and a 3.2g shell make it comfortable all day, even lying on your side, and the detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable has a microphone and in-line control.

A 14.2mm dynamic driver is unusual in this class. It is FiiO’s second-generation FF-series driver, bringing high-end materials to an affordable price with a new acoustic design, and its carefully chosen resonance frequency gives more extended, dynamic and textured bass for a grander sound.

The diaphragm is highly rigid yet light, with enough damping, which reduces unwanted break-up and distortion (FiiO measured under 0.2% at 94dB, 150Hz–20kHz) and makes the driver very responsive for excellent transients. A special gasket suspension designed for the FF1 lets the driver move more freely, for robust, high-quality bass and sweet mids and vocals.

A slender acoustic resistance pipe runs from the top of the ear stem to the back of the shell. Hidden inside, it keeps the design clean, lets the air inside flow smoothly and lowers the shell’s resonance and bass loss, for deeper, purer bass. Worn openly, without covers, the effective frequency response reaches down to 38Hz (FiiO Audio Labs, APx555B and Brüel & Kjær 4128C head and torso simulator). For even more bass, fit the sponge covers.

Comfort comes first with earbuds. Based on feedback from FF-series users, FiiO reduced the shell diameter from 16.5mm to 16.2mm, and each earbud weighs only 3.2g, so it is almost invisible in your ears for long sessions. The engineers also kept the shells small enough not to stick out of your ears, so you can use them lying on your side or in bed, for films, games or music at night.

Anti-slip silicone rings in different sizes help the earbuds stay put whatever your ear size, and because open earbuds let you hear your surroundings, they suit activities such as hiking or cycling: silicone wing hooks are included for workouts.

One button on the cable handles calls and playback, and the built-in microphone works for calls and online gaming.

The cable detaches at 0.78mm 2-pin connectors for future upgrades. FiiO shrank the usually bulky connector into a tiny oval so it doesn’t press when you lie on your side, and the left connector has a tactile marker so you can tell left from right by touch. The 1.2m oxygen-free copper cable ends in a 3.5mm plug, and a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter is included.
