MEET THE BTR17
A flagship Bluetooth DAC/amp with a QCC5181 chip, dual ES9069Q DACs, THX amplifiers and up to 650mW in desktop mode.
Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC and aptX Adaptive at up to 24-bit/96kHz.
HyperStream architecture for outstanding dynamic range and SNR.
An independent power supply unlocks up to 650mW per channel.
The FiiO BTR17 is FiiO’s flagship Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier, a master of all trades that packs years of FiiO DAC and amplifier experience into a pocket-sized body. A Qualcomm QCC5181 brings Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC and aptX Lossless, two ESS ES9069Q DACs and four-channel THX AAA 78+ amplifiers deliver up to 650mW per channel in desktop mode, and over USB a 16-core XMOS XU316 makes it a high-end wired DAC. It won a VGP 2025 Summer Gold Award, Headfonics’ Best Wireless Streamer 2024, TechPowerUp’s Editor’s Choice and a CIHE EHA 2024 Silver Award.

Qualcomm’s flagship QCC5181 meets the Bluetooth LE Audio standard, has 2.1Mbps of transmission bandwidth and supports lossless quality within aptX Adaptive (aptX Lossless), bringing CD-level lossless sound to Bluetooth. With Bluetooth 5.4, LDAC and aptX Adaptive at 96kHz/24-bit and Snapdragon Sound, the BTR17 receives AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless and LDAC.

Two ESS ES9069Q DACs, built on the fourth-generation 32-bit HyperStream architecture, reach 130dB dynamic range and −120dB THD+N while using little power, further reducing digital noise for a richer, more musical sound against a cleaner background.

The same THX AAA 78+ amplifier as FiiO’s KA17 and M23 runs in a four-channel fully balanced design with eight op-amps in parallel, for robust, controlled power and a clear, natural sound. With USB power on the POWER IN port and desktop mode on, four op-amps work in parallel for current amplification: up to 650mW + 650mW balanced, 203% more than the BTR7 and comparable to desktop headphone amplifiers (300mW balanced and 140mW single-ended on battery).

A dedicated D.Mode switch and power port let you run the BTR17 from an external supply (patent ZL202321946664.8). Used as a dongle with a phone, it then draws power from the supply rather than your phone, and the battery is neither overcharged nor over-discharged. A PC/BT/PHONE switch sets how it draws power: PC (powered entirely by the computer), BT (internal battery, charging over USB) or PHONE (the battery helps, so it takes less from your phone).
Inside is signal processing comparable to premium music players: dual clocks for the digital audio and DAC, low-pass preamplification and multi-stage analogue processing that restore detail and dynamics. A three-stage, three-rail power supply (filtering and over-voltage protection, DC-DC boost, then high-precision LDO regulation) gives the digital, conversion and analogue sections their own rails, plus more than ten smaller rails. Temperature and DC-output detection protect the BTR17 and your headphones, and a volume limit protects your hearing.
Over USB, the flagship 16-core XMOS XU316 gives lower latency, more stable transmission and better compatibility than typical USB chips, with PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit, native DSD512 and full MQA decoding. Its computing power also runs a high-definition 10-band PEQ up to 192kHz, which you can set in the FiiO Control app or FiiO’s web tool, adjusting frequency, gain, bandwidth and Q, and importing, exporting and sharing curves; a side key switches EQ. A UAC 1.0 mode plugs straight into a Nintendo Switch, PS5 and more.

The pressable volume knob, with a double-sided 3D-engraved design, is tested for more than 50,000 presses and 40,000 rotations; it also plays and pauses, handles calls, enters menus and reconnects Bluetooth. The 1.3-inch IPS colour screen’s text changes colour with the format, and shows PQ, HQ, SQ or HR quality levels in Bluetooth mode. The 3D aluminium alloy body has a fully bonded leather back and a two-section front for a comfortable grip. A microphone handles calls in Bluetooth mode, and the 3.5mm output supports CTIA in-line controls.
