The FiiO BTR13 is a light, affordable pocket DAC and headphone amplifier that works as a computer sound card, a Bluetooth receiver and a USB dongle for your phone, all in one. Each channel has its own Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC for a fully balanced design, an independent amplifier supply gives up to 220mW per channel from the 4.4mm output, and a Qualcomm QCC5125 brings LDAC and the aptX family. A global 10-band PEQ, a 0.96-inch colour screen, FiiO’s patented car mode and in-line remote support complete it, at just 28.6g, lighter than a pen. It won a VGP 2025 Summer Life Style award.

Three modes on one switch

A three-position switch picks the job:

  • PC: a USB DAC and headphone amp for a computer, powered entirely by the computer.
  • BT: a Bluetooth DAC and headphone amp running on its own battery (about 8 hours), which charges when USB is connected.
  • PHONE: a USB DAC dongle for your phone, powered by its own battery (about 9 hours) so it doesn’t drain the phone; USB charging is off in this mode.

As a USB DAC it is driver-free, up to 96kHz, and its UAC 1.0 mode suits the PS5, Nintendo Switch and similar devices.

Hi-res Bluetooth with LDAC

The Qualcomm QCC5125 (a CPU and DSP dual-core design) receives Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC (up to 990kbps), aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC and SBC, for high-resolution audio up to 96kHz in both Bluetooth and USB modes. It connects to two phones at once and switches automatically to whichever starts playing, and an incoming call on either takes priority. The screen and light show the codec in use.

Fully balanced, with dual CS43131 DACs

Each channel is handled by its own high-end Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC, which reduces crosstalk for a purer, higher-quality sound. FiiO designed an independent, low-noise, high-current power supply for the CS43131’s built-in amplifiers, raising the balanced output by 282% over the BTR3K to 220mW per channel into 32Ω, enough for any portable use; the 3.5mm output gives 100mW. The 4.4mm balanced socket is more common and more durable than the BTR3K’s 2.5mm one. Two gain levels and 60 volume steps, separate from your phone’s and remembered, give fine control; FiiO suggests setting the phone to maximum and adjusting the volume on the BTR13.

A global 10-band PEQ

FiiO’s own algorithm gives a high-quality 10-band parametric EQ, set in the FiiO Control app or on the web. Use FiiO’s presets, custom curves shared online, or one-click settings for headphones from many major brands. In both Bluetooth and USB DAC modes the EQ runs on the QCC5125’s DSP, so it works with LDAC and at up to 96kHz.

Calls, in-line controls and car mode

The 3.5mm output supports CTIA in-line controls, so your headphones’ microphone and play/pause and volume buttons work, and there is a built-in omnidirectional microphone for calls in Bluetooth mode. FiiO’s patented car mode (patent ZL201710563549.5) switches the BTR13 on and off with your car’s USB power, an easy way to improve your car audio.

A large colour screen and a clip

The 0.96-inch colour IPS display (80 × 160), with a new colourful interface in English or Chinese, shows the codec, sample rate, volume, EQ, battery and menu at a glance. The integrated back clip makes it easy to carry, the FiiO Control app adjusts its settings and updates the firmware over the air, and it saves power by switching off after three minutes without a connection (adjustable in the app).

Good to know

  • The BTR13 only receives Bluetooth; it can’t send to wireless headphones.
  • It doesn’t fast charge: FiiO recommends a 5V 2A charger.
  • Suits headphones from 8Ω to 150Ω on the 3.5mm output and 8Ω to 350Ω balanced (FiiO’s recommendation).
  • Want more power and hi-res USB to 384kHz? See the FiiO BTR15.
  • In the box: BTR13, screen protector (fitted), USB-C to USB-C cable, lanyard, quick start guide and warranty card.
