MEET THE WANDLA
Ferrum's WANDLA DAC/preamp with a fully balanced headphone amplifier delivering up to 2.8W into 32Ω (balanced).
Every WANDLA option and specification, including Signalyst Dynamic Digital Filtering.
A fully balanced composite IC amplifier that comes very close to OOR's quality.
Like all Ferrum gear, it can be taken further with the HYPSOS power system.
The Ferrum WANDLA HP is Ferrum’s WANDLA DAC and preamplifier with a powerful, fully balanced headphone amplifier built in, made in Poland by Ferrum’s parent company HEM. It keeps everything the flagship WANDLA offers, an ESS Sabre ES9038PRO with Ferrum’s own current-to-voltage converter, almost every digital input including HDMI ARC and I2S, and Signalyst filters, and adds a headphone amplifier that comes very close to the OOR in quality, with up to 3.5W into 50Ω balanced and a 122dB dynamic range.

Ferrum’s journey up the hi-fi chain brought the HYPSOS hybrid power system, the OOR flagship headphone amplifier, the ERCO entry-level DAC and the WANDLA flagship DAC, all upgradeable with HYPSOS. The WANDLA HP sits between entry level and the super-flagship for headphone listeners: for those who want more than the ERCO but aren’t ready for WANDLA with OOR. Ferrum calls it a real head-turner, with flagship sound at a far lower price.
The headphone amplifier is a fully balanced, composite IC design, fine-tuned for the WANDLA HP. Balanced, it gives 3.5W into 50Ω, 2.8W into 32Ω and 0.75W into 300Ω, with distortion as low as 0.00016% and an output impedance of 1Ω; single-ended through the supplied adapter, 1.4W into 32Ω and 0.5Ω. The whole signal path is balanced: even RCA inputs are converted to balanced at the first active stage. The sound is balanced and very transparent, which Ferrum says makes listening fatigue a thing of the past.
The ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DAC works with Ferrum’s advanced current-to-voltage (I/V) converter, a combination Ferrum compares to units many times the price. SERCE, Ferrum’s digital audio module, runs on an optimised ARM chip for the shortest possible signal path, making five chips redundant, and includes MQA decoding and rendering and the filter selection. The USB input is specially programmed and the coaxial, optical, AES, ARC and I2S inputs tuned for audio. Volume is analogue, with a bypass option, or digital for DAC-only use.
Signalyst, the maker of HQPlayer, created filters exclusively for Ferrum. The WANDLA HP launched with two special filters and now offers four, and Ferrum adds new ones after hearing from its community of WANDLA owners, which founder Marcin Hamerla calls truly unique among DACs and in hi-fi in general.

A new hi-res touchscreen with an intuitive interface, a volume knob and the included remote control make it a pleasure to use. It performs beautifully with its supplied 24V adapter, and you can take it further with Ferrum’s HYPSOS hybrid power supply, connected by the Ferrum Power Link (FPL, cable sold separately): two wires carry the power and two sense the voltage at the WANDLA HP (4T sensing), keeping the voltage flat at every moment, removing the effect of the cable’s resistance and speeding up current delivery for better transient response.
