The Audio-Technica AT-VM95E/H is a ready-to-fit cartridge and headshell: the popular AT-VM95E dual moving magnet cartridge, with an elliptical stylus, pre-mounted on Audio-Technica’s AT-HS6BK headshell. The set is assembled and tested at Audio-Technica’s factory in Fukui, Japan, so it performs reliably straight out of the box. It is a practical upgrade or spare for turntables with a universal ½" headshell mount, such as the AT-LP120XBT-USB, with no cartridge to mount yourself.
Elliptical bonded stylus
The elliptical diamond stylus, 0.3 × 0.7 mil on a bonded round shank and an aluminium pipe cantilever, follows the groove modulation more precisely than a conical stylus. That improves frequency and phase response and reduces distortion, for a cleaner, more detailed and more controlled sound.
A cartridge that lasts
As part of Audio-Technica’s VM95 Series, the cartridge has an interchangeable stylus, so it can be used almost forever. When the diamond wears out, you simply buy the matching AT-VMN95E replacement stylus rather than a whole new cartridge, and you can upgrade the sound later by fitting a different VM95 Series stylus.
Pre-mounted on the AT-HS6BK
The AT-HS6BK headshell has a 9g die-cast aluminium body, and the cartridge and headshell together weigh 15.5g. Before you fit it, check that your tonearm can balance that weight, and set the tracking force to the standard 2.0g.
