The Shanling CD-S100 (V25 edition) is a classic full-width CD player modernised. It plays your CDs through a ROHM BD34352 DAC and a proven OPA1612 and MUSES8920 analogue stage, with balanced XLR and RCA outputs, and it also streams over Bluetooth, AirPlay and DLNA, plays hi-res files from a USB drive and works as a USB DAC for your computer.
26 years of CD heritage
The CD-S100 line is one of Shanling’s most classic designs, first released in 1999. The V25 keeps the core idea of a simple, reliable CD player while modernising it for today.
A top-grade CD system
Shanling’s latest, fourth-generation servo system is combined with the precise DA11 CD drive for steady, reliable reading: the foundation of any good-sounding CD player. Upgraded Japanese KDS active crystal oscillators at 90MHz and 98MHz and Shanling’s improved fourth-generation FPGA algorithm give better accuracy when decoding all audio.
A new DAC: ROHM BD34352
The CD-S100 is the first Shanling model with a ROHM DAC, a new type of chip with very high potential that demands careful implementation. Tuned by Shanling’s engineers, it gives superior transparency and a truly expansive soundstage, with a more neutral presentation overall.
A proven analogue stage
Highly efficient, precise OPA1612 op-amps handle the I/V conversion, with every resistor and capacitor matched for the best DAC performance, and further OPA1612s in the low-pass filter reduce noise and distortion while using the full dynamic range. A MUSES8920 output stage gives a clean line-out or a highly precise pre-amplifier mode for a range of hi-fi set-ups. A 43VA R30 transformer supplies stable, clean power.
A multifunctional source
Analogue outputs are XLR (balanced) and RCA, digital outputs coaxial and optical, and as well as CDs it plays from a computer over USB, from Bluetooth and over Wi-Fi.
USB drive and USB DAC
Load your library onto a USB drive of up to 2TB and plug it straight in for lossless, high-resolution playback up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 (DSD512 needs line-out mode; pre-out mode plays up to DSD256), with the Eddict Player app as library browser and remote control. Connect a computer and the CD-S100 becomes a USB DAC at up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256 (DSD in line-out mode only), so your computer’s noisy audio output is bypassed.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
Bluetooth 5.0 with LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC makes it a high-quality Bluetooth DAC for any phone’s streaming apps, and on your Wi-Fi network DLNA and AirPlay open up more streaming options.
Upgraded system, elegant build
An Ingenic X2000 platform runs a fast, intuitive, music-focused system with a bright, colourful round screen. The fully metal case with a CNC-machined panel looks the part in a hi-fi rack and helps the audio performance. The CD-S100 is certified Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless by the Japan Audio Society.
