The Shanling Q2 revives Shanling’s Q line with its latest MTouch player platform: advanced portable hi-fi in a curved, cute design and a truly compact body for everyday use. At 80 × 50 × 13.5mm and 83g it holds four Cirrus Logic CS43131 DACs, 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs with up to 425mW, a 2.09-inch touchscreen with a touch volume wheel, Wi-Fi with Tidal, two-way Bluetooth and up to 13.5 hours of battery life.
The Q line returns
The Q2 chooses a smooth, curved design over sharp edges, preferring a simpler, old-school look to cold minimalism, and makes sure the player is truly compact and ready to go anywhere. Choose smoky grey, moonlight silver or twilight orange.
Four Cirrus Logic DACs
Following Shanling’s latest audio designs, the Q2 uses four CS43131 DACs in a fully balanced design for a neutral, energetic sound with minimal distortion and excellent detail, measuring 130dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.0006% THD+N from the balanced output. It plays PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512, with four digital filters.
Compact, with both outputs
The Q2 is Shanling’s second smallest player, with a metal and glass body of 80 × 50 × 13.5mm and just 83g, yet it fits both 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs for single-ended and balanced headphones. High gain gives up to 425mW into 32Ω for dynamic sound with full-size headphones; low gain and precise 100-step volume make it an accurate partner for sensitive in-ear monitors. Both outputs can also work as line outs.
Triple-style controls and MTouch
A 2.09-inch touchscreen makes it easy to browse large libraries, a touch wheel gives quick, smooth volume control, and four physical buttons handle playback, so everything from advanced features to in-pocket control is covered. Shanling’s in-house MTouch system, refined over more than eight years, runs on an Ingenic X2000 for a simple, fast player focused purely on audio. Extras include A-B repeat and playback speed for non-music audio, and a button/wheel lock when the screen is off.
Tidal, Wi-Fi and two-way Bluetooth
Connect to Wi-Fi and the whole Tidal library streams on the Q2, developed with Tidal (online playback only, no offline downloads), alongside DLNA and AirPlay. Two-way Bluetooth 5.2 sends to wireless headphones and speakers, or turns the Q2 into a Bluetooth DAC/amp for your phone, with LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. The Eddict Player app gives remote control from your phone.
Your library, and two-way USB
A microSD slot takes cards of up to 2TB, combining library browsing (up to 20,000 files) with unlimited folder browsing for every kind of file, including hi-res PCM and DSD. Over USB the Q2 works as a USB DAC for Windows or Mac computers (up to 384kHz/32-bit), or as a bit-perfect USB transport into a hi-fi DAC or a pair of USB-C headphones. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB combine in many ways: for example AirPlay or DLNA into the Q2 and out to a USB DAC or Bluetooth headphones.
Battery life
The 1,850mAh battery and optimised audio circuit give up to 13.5 hours from the 3.5mm output, 12.5 hours balanced and 16.5 hours as an LDAC Bluetooth receiver (Shanling’s tests; real use may vary).
