A Bluetooth amplifier lets you keep your favourite wired headphones and still go wireless. Clip a FiiO BTR13 or BTR17, a Shanling UP6 or a Cayin BTC-2 to your pocket and it receives high-quality Bluetooth from your phone, converts it with a proper DAC and drives your headphones through 3.5mm or balanced 4.4mm outputs, usually with a USB DAC mode for your laptop too.

Receivers and transmitters for the home

For a hi-fi system there are desktop receivers such as the FiiO BR13 and the R2R-based BR15, which add Bluetooth to any amplifier, and the FiiO BTA30 Pro, which both receives and transmits, so you can send a CD player or turntable to Bluetooth headphones. Codecs matter
