The Shanling ET3 EVO is a top-loading CD transport and digital source for an external DAC. It builds on the popular ET3 with a refreshed look and optimised internal circuitry, and sends CDs, USB-drive music, Wi-Fi streams and Bluetooth to your DAC through I²S, USB, coaxial, optical and AES/EBU outputs, with optional upsampling or conversion to DSD. It suits anything from a compact desk system to a full-size hi-fi.
A dedicated transport
At its heart is a Philips SAA7824 CD system with a Sanyo HD850 laser, a proven pairing for stable, reliable playback of CD, CD-R and CD-RW. There is no internal DAC or headphone amplifier: you choose the DAC, and the ET3 EVO feeds it a clean digital signal. Shanling’s optimisations to the power supply and transport circuitry give a slight improvement in transparency over the ET3.
A new look
The EVO edition has a more energetic, modern appearance: a dark grey CNC-machined aluminium chassis, a carbon-style texture on the front panel and transparent CD cover, and a glossy red control wheel. The top-loading design keeps the spinning disc in view, combining modern digital playback with the ritual of physical media.
Five digital outputs
I²S and USB outputs carry PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512; coaxial, optical and AES/EBU carry PCM up to 192kHz/32-bit and DSD64, so the ET3 EVO connects to desktop DACs, headphone systems and full-size hi-fi alike.
Upsampling and MQA
A CT7302CL processor offers All-to-PCM and All-to-DSD modes: CDs, local files and wireless audio can be upsampled to high-resolution PCM or converted to DSD before they reach your DAC, so you can try different processing and keep the format your DAC likes best. For MQA-CDs it works as a full decoder, outputting up to 176.4kHz to any DAC; with an MQA DAC over I²S it performs the core decode to 88.2kHz and lets the DAC finish the job.
More than CD
An Ingenic X2000 platform plays DSD, DXD, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, APE, MP3, AAC, MQA and more from a USB drive of up to 2TB, and the ET3 EVO can share that drive as a network server for other devices. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) supports AirPlay and DLNA, and Bluetooth 5.0 receives LDAC, AAC or SBC from a phone, tablet or computer; wireless audio also passes through the digital processing before it goes to your DAC.
Easy to control
Use the front-panel buttons and multifunction wheel with the IPS display, the supplied remote control across the room, or Shanling’s Eddict Player app to browse and play USB and network music from your phone or tablet.
