The ONIX OIA92 is a high-end integrated stereo amplifier delivering 200W per channel into 8Ω, with a 500W bridged mono mode. A complete digital section, with an AKM AK4493EQ DAC, XMOS USB, optical, coaxial and LDAC Bluetooth inputs, means it needs nothing more than a source and a pair of speakers.
Classic ONIX flagship design
The OIA92 continues the look of ONIX’s classic flagship series in a taller, larger body. A solid machined aluminium chassis keeps it rigid and controls resonance, and the glossy black acrylic front plate with gold-plated controls has a small display for the basic settings. It weighs 29kg.
Serious power
A high-performance, low-leakage 600VA UI transformer feeds eight 10,000µF/80V Nichicon KG capacitors, and six pairs of Japanese Sanken 2SC3264 and 2SA1295 power transistors drive the speakers with plenty of energy for deep bass and big dynamics. A two-level gain switch gives very precise volume control in stereo or mono, and two units can run in bridged mono for 500W into 8Ω.
A complete digital section
Connect a computer, CD transport or phone straight to the OIA92. The classic AKM AK4493EQ DAC runs from an ultra-low-noise LDO linear regulated supply for dense, transparent vocals and a clear, natural sound. The XMOS XU208 USB input plays PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD256 natively (DSD512 in software). Coaxial and optical inputs (up to 192kHz/24-bit) suit CD transports, TVs and other home devices, and a Qualcomm CSR8675 Bluetooth 5.0 chip receives LDAC, LHDC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC from phones, tablets and computers.
Fine materials
Inputs and outputs use six pairs of gold-plated CMC816 RCA sockets, three gold-plated Neutrik balanced XLR sockets and four pairs of gold-plated pure copper speaker terminals, and the power and speaker wiring is high-purity single-crystal copper.
