FiiO UTWS5 True Wireless Amplifier (2025 Edition)

The FiiO UTWS5 (2025) turns your favourite wired in-ear monitors into true wireless earphones. Each ear hook has a Qualcomm QCC5141 Bluetooth chip, receiving LDAC, LHDC and aptX Adaptive at up to 96kHz/24-bit, and its own AKM AK4332 DAC and headphone amplifier; the 2025 edition adds contactless wireless charging and a 10-band PEQ. Choose the MMCX or 0.78mm 2-pin version to match your IEMs. It won VGP 2025 Life Style awards.

Contactless wireless charging

For the first time in a FiiO true wireless product, small charging coils inside the ear hooks replace contact pins, so there are no exposed contacts to get dirty or oxidise, extending the product’s life; sweat is no worry. It also allows smart touches: the ear hooks switch off when you put them in the case, switch on when you take them out, and stop charging when full. They play for about 8 hours per charge, and at least 20 hours with the case. Because wireless charging loses some energy as heat, they may feel slightly warm after charging, which is normal. The roomy case protects your earphones and fits a wider range of IEMs attached to the UTWS5.

A HiFi DAC and amplifier in each ear hook

The QCC5141 receives the Bluetooth signal and passes it to a 32-bit AKM AK4332 in each ear hook, a DAC with a built-in headphone amplifier and AKM’s VELVET SOUND technology, efficient and well suited to true wireless use. FiiO’s comparison shows what this architecture adds over the QCC5141 on its own: 110dB signal-to-noise ratio instead of 99dB, 4µV noise instead of 12µV, 0.002% distortion instead of 0.06%, 55mW into 16Ω instead of 30mW, and a response to 40kHz instead of 20kHz.

Qualcomm QCC5141 and hi-res Bluetooth

The QCC5141’s dual-core 120MHz Kalimba DSP handles several audio streams and complex processing at once, from audio and microphone processing to call noise reduction and EQ. Bluetooth 5.2 and Qualcomm TrueWireless Mirroring give a fast, stable connection with seamless switching between the main and secondary ear hook. With Snapdragon Sound phones it receives LDAC, LHDC and aptX Adaptive at up to 96kHz/24-bit; it also supports aptX, AAC and SBC, and aptX Voice for clear 32kHz wideband calls. It connects to two devices at once, so you can switch between a phone and a tablet for music and calls.

A 10-band PEQ and app control

In the FiiO Control app, adjust 10 PEQ bands (frequency, gain and bandwidth) with FiiO’s own interface at up to 96kHz/24-bit, or choose from seven presets; export, save and share your curves. The app also sets channel balance and switches between HiFi and gaming modes, and volume has 32 steps for precise control. Large, sensitive buttons adjust the volume, play and pause, and skip tracks with a light press.

Comfortable, secure and IPX4

Memory titanium alloy wire in the ear hooks lets you shape them for a secure, comfortable, non-slip fit that stays put during workouts, and a skin-friendly nano coating feels smooth against your ear. Silver-plated monocrystalline copper wiring improves conductivity and resolution. IPX4 resistance to sweat and splashes, tested in FiiO’s labs, lets you use them for sport, commuting, driving with hands-free calls, or low-latency gaming.

Will it fit my earphones?

The UTWS5 (2025) takes standard MMCX connectors, or flat-head, protruding or short-step 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, depending on the version you choose. FiiO’s drawings show a 5.95mm connector housing, a 2.35mm MMCX plug and 3.6mm-long 2-pin pins. As the case’s internal space is irregular, its size is only a guide to which earphones fit; if you are not sure, ask us before you buy.
