Ferrum HYPSOS Dual Output Hybrid Power System

The Ferrum HYPSOS Dual Output is the two-output version of Ferrum’s HYPSOS hybrid power system, designed and made in Poland by HEM. HYPSOS is not a simple power supply but an audio component in its own right, and its power reserves are so large that it can easily run two devices at once, as long as they need the same supply voltage: for example Ferrum’s OOR headphone amplifier and WANDLA DAC, or two other devices with the same requirements, without another external box and the cable spaghetti that comes with it.

A hybrid power system

HYPSOS combines linear and switching techniques to get the advantages of both: the low ripple and noise of a linear supply with the fast transient response and high efficiency of a switching one. Ferrum’s aim is a detailed and revealing yet unfatiguing sound that lets your system perform to its potential. HYPSOS is software-controlled, with as few hardware-dependent elements as possible, so it can benefit from future software improvements.

Sweet Spot Tuning

Sweet Spot Tuning (SST) lets you fine-tune the output voltage for the best sound. Within the safe range set by your device’s manufacturer, you can adjust the level on the fly and compare the results without risking damage to your equipment.

Two user levels, one universal supply

Choose a pre-configured setting from Ferrum’s list of supported devices, or set custom parameters manually. A wide continuous output range of 5–30V, with up to 6A delivered to the load, makes HYPSOS as universal as it gets. The output voltage and DC plug polarity are controlled electronically, so you can power a lot of equipment without buying different versions of the product or cable, and HYPSOS always asks you to confirm the parameters before it applies power, whether you chose a device from the list or entered them by hand.

4T Sensing Design

Ferrum’s output cable has four wires: two deliver the power and two carry feedback, so HYPSOS can keep the voltage exactly right at your device’s DC input at every moment. This 4-Terminal Sensing Design (4TSD) eliminates the harmful effects of the cable’s resistance and significantly speeds up current delivery at the device, improving transient response. You can use 4T Sensing and Ferrum’s Spread Spectrum Mode in whichever combination you prefer. On the Dual Output, 4TSD is active on the main output only.

Automation and safety

HYPSOS works with an Apple TV remote and has a trigger input and output, and it can power your devices up automatically from standby even without a dedicated trigger connection. It is also extremely safe to use, with Automatic Transformer Voltage Adjust (ATVA), an electronic output-voltage polarity switch, and over-voltage, current limit and short-circuit protection.

Good to know

• Both outputs share one voltage, so both devices must need the same supply voltage.
• One DC cable comes in the box, with a 5.5 × 2.5mm or 5.5 × 2.1mm plug: contact us when you order if you need a particular one. For the second device, add a Ferrum 4-pin to 5.5 × 2.5mm or 4-pin to 5.5 × 2.1mm cable, or the Ferrum Power Link for Ferrum components.
