FiiO LC-RE Pro Swappable Plug Earphone Cable

The FiiO LC-RE Pro (2022) is FiiO’s flagship upgrade cable for MMCX in-ear monitors: a braided mix of gold, silver and copper wires, eight strands totalling 360 wires, angled stainless steel MMCX connectors, a transparent German TPU sheath and twist-lock plugs you can swap between 3.5mm single-ended, 2.5mm balanced and 4.4mm balanced.

A carefully chosen mix of gold, silver and copper

The cores are made of gold, silver and copper. After high-temperature sintering, casting and secondary smelting, a single crystal is formed, and special processes then remove impurities to raise the purity of the wire and minimise signal loss. Each metal brings its own strength:

• Gold conducts faster, improving low-frequency transients for a more authoritative sound.
• Silver is better at carrying high frequencies, for more treble detail and resolution.
• Copper gives warm, mellow vocals for a more natural sound.

Denser and thicker: 8 strands, 360 wires

Each strand has 10 gold-plated monocrystalline copper wires, 15 monocrystalline pure silver wires and 20 monocrystalline copper wires, so eight strands make 360 wires. Compared with the previous LC-RE Pro (4 strands, 240 wires), the wire diameter per channel has grown to 24AWG; the larger conductor cross-section reduces impedance and signal loss for better sound. Gold, silver and copper are allocated in a 2:3:4 ratio for the best balance of speed, warmth and detail.

Stainless steel angled MMCX

Angled, expanded MMCX connectors are easier to use. The mid-section and plug are made of medical-grade 316L stainless steel, hand-polished to a mirror finish and electroplated, for durability and comfort when wearing.

Litz braided wires

All 360 wires are individually insulated from each other. Litz braiding gives the wires a larger surface area, lowering resistance by minimising the skin and proximity effects, which greatly improves signal transmission and resolution.

Twist-lock swappable plugs

Change between 3.5mm single-ended, 2.5mm balanced and 4.4mm balanced plugs to suit your source: twist the collar to unlock, pull the plug out, line up the notch with the raised dot, push it in and twist back to lock. The swappable plug design is licensed from FABRILOUS’s patent.

Transparent German TPU sheath

FiiO chose transparent German TPU for its high resistance to wear and ageing, its smoothness, translucence and comfort, and made it softer than before. In FiiO’s lab tests (tensile resistance, high and low temperature shocks, gasoline, sweat and cosmetics immersion, swinging, voltage insulation and conduction) it did not harden in the cold or change colour after long use.
