I have used Cowon /AMP3 for many years. Compared to my Plenue 1 the Plenue D shows itself to be fantastic value. What particularly drew me to the 'D' was the claimed (long) time-between-charges. As I am often away travelling for 14+ hours then batter...Read morey life becomes a factor. My only moan about the 'D' is that there seems now way of setting it to play through a succession of folders but I'm prepared to accept that the fault may lie in my own deficiencies. However ........ I find the supplied Cowon user guide could be more comprehensive.
For those considering the 'D' I would also suggest a look at the superb FiiO X3ii. I have the X3ii (costs around £40 less than the Plenue) and cannot fault it. The FiiO is built like a tank and happily plays my hi-res DSD 64 files.
Both players sound great in my opinion and for those who value prolonged battery life then the Plenue is top dog. On sound quality I believe that the FiiO may have a very slight edge but, then again, this might just be my imagination.

I've been the very happy owner of a Cowon Plenue 1 for the last 15 months. The only downside is the relatively short battery life - and given that my job has been involving a lot more 'day' commutes than 'week away' trips recently, I'd been thinking ...Read moreabout getting something with a longer battery life to use each day with ear buds (rather than my excellent Kef M500) to take up us less space in the laptop bag.

Right on cue the Plenue D arrived - I've been using it pretty much every day for the last 10 days and have been delighted. Still going strong from the first charge (about 40 hours of use so far). It's pretty much the 'Plenue 1 light'. Very similar UI and navigation - but at less than 50% of the size. Quite incredible to do that and have the long battery life and a usable touchscreen . All the Cowon EQ features you'd expect are there - but in truth both at home and on the move I use as little EQ as possible. Always fun to have a dabble with though!. I'm using at FAT32 64gb card in there currently, the integration between the external and internal memories is seamless and after the initial database read (around 2 minutes when card first inserted, as I recall) it's very quick to start up on subsequent occasions.

I am really pleased with it so far - not tried it with my KEFs so I can't comment on how it drives full size headphones but in tandem with my earbuds (RHA MA750 - with Comply tips fitted) it makes the commute a far more pleasurable experience. At the price I'd give it a VERY strong recommendation - and a bit thanks to AMP3 for once again coming up trumps.
