Bought this Sony MP3 player from AMP3 (having never used them before) after much research & deliberation following me having grown fed up with iPod Classic sound quality...prior to buying the Sony, I bought a used Cowon J3 from elsewhere and returned it within 24 hours as it was not user friendly at all and the SQ was no where near as good as I was expecting. The Sony NWZ-A867 64GB MP3 player is the best device of it's kind I think - its easy to use, sound quality is without equal, the Bluetooth functionality is great for in car use, the supplied IER phones sound fantastic and are comfortable and the SenseMe playlists are brilliant. Best gadget purchase I have ever made... Thoroughly recommended!! AMP3 have been a fantastic seller offering great pricing and excellent advice - I will only purchase via AMP3 in future.

This is my 1st MP3 player, and so far so good. Always loved Sony, right from the old walkman days, and the sound is still just as good. Still working on putting my CD's on to it which has taken time but great way to rediscover albums I had forgotten! Had a small slip up with buying the docking station, make sure it works with the walkman, even if it's made by Sony! Now got the right one and we are all OK.

I bought first the new android NWZ-1070 64GB from Japan, but it was too big and I see no point with this vs a android smartphone (with aditional phone and camera for the same price). The Sony NWZ-A867 has the "old" good Sony software as I'm famiar with from older models without touch screen. Even if this has less battery life compare to older models, it fit my needs prefectly (small size of the player, big storage space and prefect sound). Only negative for all players/brands in general is the earplugs quality for the pair following the player. I use seperate bought Monster earplugs and in combination with this player it's dynamite!

I bought the unit at Christmas and being an MP3 virgin I assumed that all 64GB would be available, WRONG. There's about 57GB which I've almost filled up and I still have a lot of CDs to transfer over.
I originally had chosen a COWON until I discovered that it was incompatible with my Windows operating system on my laptop.
That aside I am impressed with the ease of use and the excellent adjustable sound.
Now, do I buy another one in your sale.....?

This is now my third sony mp3 player, and I have found it very impressive.
Packed full of the latest features and the touch screen responds well.
The sound quality with the supplied earphones is excellent.
Being open format this time round instead of using sony software to load tracks onto the player make's life easier.
The only negative point with this player is that it does not have a line out funtion in the menu options, so that is gives good volume when connectiong it to a set of speakers via the earphone jack.

Really delighted with the product - very intuitive - took moments to master it.
Only slight gripe, and it is a slight gripe...could have done with a little more range on volume - but it's perfectly adequate.

Great value, considering a 16GB is being sold for about £70 less and this gives you four times the storage.

Would thoroughly recommend.

I bought this having owned the previous A series which I loved. For me it's the sound quality above anything else and that's why I've always bought Sony products as the quality of their audio is generally better than anyone else on the market and is a constant that has not failed them to date.....except now.

Sony have decided to include a 'clipping' or 'normalisation' of the volume of songs on this player and that's where the problem lies. The volume will be lowered when the song contains many instruments or a lot of bass and be raised when there's few instruments or little bass. When you think about how most songs are arranged, almost every song is affected meaning you spend your time adjusting the volume to compensate constantly throughout a song which is totally ridiculous. The normalisation of songs is nothing less than annoying. You cannot enjoy a song at a reasonable volume when the player is constantly adjusting the volume of the song depending on how 'busy' the music is. I have been a Sony advocate for years owning many walkman series players, TV's and amplifiers. This is their first major letdown for me and I'm so dissapointed that I'll be doing the same, selling this on ebay in the hope that it doesn't bother someone else.

Sony can fix this! They only need to correct the software that's causing this and release a firmware update but I worry that they'll never get around to doing this and that's a major dissapointment as I don't think Sony care enough about their personal audio customers like they used to....which is a real shame as we're generally loyal and that loyalty is being tested severely with this product.

Please Sony, please correct the abhorrent mistake you have made and release a firmware update, otherwise this player is useless........an incredibly expensive piece of useless.

Firstly, upgrading from a first gen 160GB iPod Classic, the sound quality of this player is awesome. The bass is nice and tight, and the overall sound quality in my opinion is just much more refined and I find myself enjoying listening to the A867 more than my Classic.
The player also looks great - small, light and fits nicely in my palm. The interface is swift, sleek and intuitive, making it a breeze to flick through albums or artists from the main menu.
The screen, while not as vivid as say a Samsung Galaxy S, still holds its own in clarity and brightness, and is still pleasing to the eye.
Also like how Media Go syncs with my iTunes music folder, although a majority of the id3 tags don't transfer in their entirety so I spent a whole lot of time fixing that. Syncing might take a long time, as well. I once added ten songs to my library and it took more than 15 minutes to finish syncing with my player.
Now for the bad - although most people have been talking about how the volume cap has been removed, I still find myself travelling through London with the volume near the max at 30 on my V-moda Remixes - the same as my Classic. Maybe they instated the EU volume cap laws on this later model, or I'm just one of those people who like to listen to their music super loud, but at the same time listening to the 16GB models in store I still find the players at the same volume wanting, and similar to the levels of the previous models, which is a shame. Listening to them through my Beats Solo HDs I would have liked the maximum to be increased even further. I bought a FiiO E11 amplifier to help with this, but really, one shouldn't need to.
And the weird thing about the player - scrolling through the normal album or artist lists are fine, but when you get to the playlists, things start to get a little sluggish - pressing the back button from the playback screen may take more than 15 seconds to load the playlist. Especially if you have large playlists, there seems to be no way to jump to different parts of the playlist, making flicking through them a LOOONNNGGG process. Also, even though you have all your videos in a specific folder, pressing 'All Videos' takes much longer to load than choosing that specific folder, which is weird.
Otherwise, I still enjoying using the player - upgrading from the SQ of the Classic is a joy, and navigation through the interface is still pleasing despite the sluggish performance in some parts. The SenseMe function is pretty fun to use as well, and is a great alternative to Apple's Genius playlists.
