Adrian Pegg(Date Added: Wednesday 20 January, 2010) It's a very good product, but there are a couple of things worth flagging.
Firstly, I mistakenly assumed that the receiver alone could be used with my iTunes and wireless network to stream music to my sound system. It was only while setting it up that I realised that this is not the case, and the receiver is useless without a controller as part of the system, which allows you to operate without touching it again.
Navigation on the controller is a little weird, and you have to get your head around connecting to different libraries n different networks and what is playing from where. There is a BBC iPlayer app which gives access to recorded audio programmes, but only when connected to your computer's library. There is also a BBC app providing access to live radio when connected to mysqueezebox.com - confusing yes, but both work well. Navigation through a large music library isn't the easiest, but then you can alternatively use an iPhone app called squeemote instead of your controller after you've set it up which is quicker to navigate.
Overall the sound quality is excellent, and when combined with a music library uploaded to mp3tunes.com the system can play all of your music without you having to leave your computer switched on or your laptop open.
There are some small niggles, most of which could be fixed in firmware/software updates, so in the hope of small improvements to the user interface, I will give it 5 stars. |
