If you want to take your blood pressure at home you probably don't want a drab medical instrument lying around, and you probably don't want to have to write down all the measurements or even plug something into your computer and fiddle around with some ropy software to keep a record. Withings have understood you and solved those problems. The kit looks like some other desirable Apple thingy, complete with a gorgeous box that you may even want to keep. Once you have the Withings app installed on your iphone or pad it is very straightforward to use the monitor, and to view a single reading, past readings, or turn from portrait to landscape orientation and you get a graph. Having focussed on your blood pressure for a moment, you can then forget all about it, which is as it should be.
My only gripes would be that the arm band can pinch a bit, even at rest, and the inside of the cuff has a slightly inelegant break in the fabric that makes you think it might tear one day. Otherwise this is money well spent. You can pay much much less for a blood pressure monitor, of course, but you would be nowhere near hitting all the nails on the head in the way that this instrument manages.
