Make every moment an HD moment with the ultra-compact Handycam® TG3E
Now there’s no excuse for leaving your camcorder behind when you could catch the moment in sparkling HD.
A little bigger than your mobile phone, our sensationally styled Handycam® HDR-TG3E is the world’s smallest, slimmest, lightest Full HD camcorder*. Slipping effortlessly into a purse, bag or jacket pocket, it’s great for parties, holidays or city breaks when you don’t want to be weighed down. Inside its slender body, the TG3E is packed with advanced Sony technology for capturing beautiful, detail-packed HD1080 images. There’s a premium Carl Zeiss lens with 10x optical zoom, plus Super SteadyShot to reduce image shake.
Powered by the BIONZ image processor, Face Detection automatically adjusts focus, exposure and colour balance for both video and photos. And if you’re shooting high-contrast subjects, like a sunny beach scene, D-Range Optimiser technology ensures that strong highlights and shadow details don’t get lost. The HDR-TG3E is tough enough to keep up with today’s active lifestyles, whether you’re on the piste or paragliding. It’s the world’s first camcorder that features a body using pure titanium - a material that is 40% lighter than steel and twice as strong as aluminium. The tough titanium shell is finished with a Premium Hard Coating. This extra-strong protective layer shrugs off everyday scratches, ensuring your camcorder keeps its high-fashion looks for longer.
Its tough finish, ultra-compact size and chic looks are only half the story. The HDR-TG3E lets you concentrate on having fun instead of fiddling with complicated features. In ‘Quick On’ mode, you’re ready to start shooting within a second of flipping open the bright, clear 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus touchscreen. And when you’re relaxing back at home, it’s easy to control playback functions with your Sony television’s remote as you enjoy big, beautiful images and great sound on your BRAVIA Sync compatible TV. Technology, made for each other The image sensor is the heart of your digital video camera, the chip that converts light into electronic data.
CCD sensors were the standard until recently, when CMOS started becoming the technology of choice for higher-quality cameras. Now the era of High Definition video has well and truly arrived, Sony has taken sensor evolution to a stage further with the ClearVid CMOS Sensor featuring Exmor technology. The ClearVid CMOS Sensor has a higher resolution and better sensitivity, with a wider dynamic range. The new Exmor processing technology adds a column A/D converter to the sensor, realising ultra high resolution with greater sensitivity and lower noise. Another advantage of the ClearVid CMOS Sensor is that it runs cooler and needs less power, so we can fit more electronics on fewer chips, in smaller and more battery efficient cameras.

The magic of CMOS
The ClearVid CMOS Sensor reduces the picture noise (or fuzziness) that can ruin your footage when you shoot in low light. Driven by the extra power of the new Bionz image processor, this Sony unique sensor uses larger pixels to capture more light and a higher density of green pixels to increase resolution.
Improved light sensitivity and resolution, including the unique structure of the CMOS Sensor to reduce smear and widen dynamic range, give you brighter, crisper images. Faster processor, more features The CMOS Sensor and Bionz image processor meet the demands of High Definition without using too much power, which means longer battery life, more compact design and greater portability.
And that’s not all. Greater efficiency powers additional features like Smooth Slow and Dual Recording. Smooth Slow Recording captures three seconds of footage as a 12 second slow motion clip, whereas Dual Recording enables simultaneous capture of moving footage and up to 5 megapixel still photos, or up to 10 megapixel still images when captured separately. Seeing is believing The Sony ClearVid CMOS Sensor is available on many Sony camcorder models. Discover clearer, sharper images yourself at your local Sony dealer.
More colour. More detail. More accuracy. Give an artist more colours for their palette and they're free to explore more creative options. And it's the same with HD Handycam. All new Sony HD Handycam models feature x.v.Colour. This Sony-developed technology almost doubles the range of colours (known as the ‘gamut’) that can be accurately reproduced on screen.
With x.v.Colour technology you can experience colour that’s as true as the eye can see for more detailed, more life-like memories with amazing colour. More detail Sony x.v.Colour technology reveals greater detail in every image for astonishingly lifelike results, whatever the subject. More accuracy x.v.Colour technology accurately mimics the colour reproduction characteristics of the human eye so Handycam sees exactly what you're seeing. More colours x.v.Colour almost doubles the range of colours that can be reproduced accurately for truer, more vivid reds, blues and greens. See the difference – a new standard for lifelike colour Closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye, x.v.Colour technology complies with xvYCC (eXtended Video YCC).
This new standard almost doubles the range of colours that can be accurately reproduced by video devices, covering almost 100 percent of natural colours. x.v.Colour also guarantees direct compatibility with the next generation of HD television sets that will support the xvYCC standard. The result? Only HD Handycam delivers more vivid, expressive colour reproduction with greater detailing and clarity just like real life.
