Hi

I purchased my popbox 3D a while a go it is a little tricky to setup however if you would like a great media player which runs perfect from NAS then go for it as you can't go wrong. The video covers are a bit of a pain as sometimes it downloads the worng info from IMDB but you can easily edit and download the correct one, but this can get tedious after a while and if you are like me can get boring!

It is worth to me around £80 but would not like to pay more as in latter reviews when you scroll down pages to select different music and videos it takes a good few seconds to load, it does not sound a lot but it is when you are looking to watch your latest movie.

There is not really any good apps excpet maybe youtube and bbc plus one which to be honest are easily accessed on a laptop or ps3/xbox so nothing special there!

I hope this helps.

Regards

Antony

Had this some time now and used it regularly to watch HD movies from my NAS - mainly as MKV files. It works a treat on the streaming and rarely gives any problems in that regard. I bought it for the more informative interface over the WD TV live (as it then was) and it is helpful to see 'cover art' and movie info. However this is not always correct and, particularly if the movie is a remake, it occasionally has the wrong info - so far as I know there is no way to correct this when it happens.

Also the box is pretty useless as a music streamer as the interface is VERY slow if you have lots of albums and tracks. It simply takes ages to scroll through the pages (more than 40 in my case - and each page has to be scanned every time you move on!) to find the album you want to play and the search facility only seems to work on 'All Songs' so can't find Album titles.

I bought this as it is advertised as being wi-fi capable. A friend had been staying with me and we had been using the apple tv. As I don't like apple/itunes the popbox would have been ideal, and compared favourably with the cost of the apple tv. Unfortunately it would not work with the wifi bridges I had, or the new one I bought. Popcorn hour do manufacture their own adapter, but it cannot be sourced from within the uk at the moment - so reluctantly I had to return the popbox.

Great media player if you just want something that works. Seems to play all the file formats I have and streams fine from my NAS.

A real bargain, surprisingly easy to set up and use. My wife and kids find it a doddle to use, and the kids have spent hours on YouTube looking up daft videos.

I run my own business from home, so this is an ideal distraction for the kids when I'm trying to get on with paperwork, without having them running riot in the house!
Setup only took a few minutes, the wireless donle (bought seperately) works well, and playback from my PC is seamless.

In summary, this was a real bargain, this unit is half the price of a lot of other similar devices on the market. I'd strongly recommend the Popbox.
