Looked at Brennan/Sony before selecting Cocktail X10 500Gb. Comparing the X10 to my friend's Brennan the Cocktail outstrips it in every aspect. My only concern was the reviews I read which mentioned the poor content of the instruction book. However, having read it from cover to cover, a first for a mere man, found it covers all the angles and assuming you can overlook the odd direct translation to English it is easy to understand. Apart from loading CDs have used the Wifi to pick up music from the other PCs/laptops in the house to play and being able to pick up radio stations across the world from the internet sold the Cocktail to my family who sigh everytime I buy a new 'gadget'. Have now loaded 550 CDs complete with album art and the reproduction via the CAP 10 speakers is great. Can actually hear the third violinist/drummer scratch their head in classical/rock pieces. Great to loose the unsightly pile of CDs in corner of lounge. As you can guess would highly recommend over any other equipment.

I recently bought the Cocktail Audio X10, after owning a Brennan JB7.

What I can say is that Cocktail Audio X10 is a lot better than Brennan JB7, it is more reliable, has more features and it delivers very good sound

The most important X10's features, in my opinion, are:

- CD Ripping in FLAC;
- Playlist creating;
- Discography View (very useful!!);
- IRadio: you can listen and also register tons of free high quality internet radios!

I’m very happy with this incredible kit!

Very pleased with this piece of kit. Chose it over the brennan because I prefer to encode classical music using .flac rather than mp3 (though I would have liked to buy British). Pretty easy to set up and rips a CD in a couple of minutes. After ripping it converts to the format of your choice and this stage can take several minutes. It either reads from a supplied Free DB database for the tags, which are easy to edit if the database gets it wrong. Shame that the tags you can use tend to be fixed; I would have liked to be able to sort by composer.
I have fed it into my existing music system via an external amp and the sound is superb and though that may be mainly due to the quality of my amp and speakers there is clearly nothing wrong with the output signal.
Note that if used to play CDs direct it is rather noisy but still just about acceptable. However, used as intended, to play ripped CDs it is very quiet.
The connectivity to your home wi-fi system is great as it means that you can stream from other music sources on your network and connect to internet radio. A pity that the wifi is not built in, you have to buy a wifi dongle as an extra for this very useful additional functionality.
I have not tried to record from vinyl yet so cant comment on this function.
The machine is very compact, a quarter the size of the CD player it has replaced. I do not regret buying this machine
